Ok writing this very late but this is due to a busy day that included trying to fit new kitchen light for my Mum (failed due to some interesting wiring) and a party for Sqk’s foster brother that meant we went back to foster carer’s house for first time since 19th October 2013. He enjoyed himself lots and seems to have had no adverse reaction – was really pleased to see people but also really happy to come home with us. DH got the ‘I love you Daddy’ for first time today. Sqk’s doesn’t say it much but really seems to mean it when he does.
This evening after playing online game with our friend in South Wales, I finally managed to wrap up 24 Christmas books and dismantle the advent tree which has been left up all year. So waiting for Sqk’s are three advent ‘calendars’. We are lucky in that unlike so many adopted children he seems to deal with Christmas – changes in routine at nursery are not phasing him and he happily tells us he is a star in the Nativity.
Like many we had thoughts about how Christmas would work as a family which we have yet to really see how they will work out. Last year was pretty quiet as Sqk’s had been with us just over 2 months so other than family meal at my parents with my sister, brother-in-law and their two boys, we had a quiet day itself. My in-laws came over on 27th so we spaced things out. This year we are going to in-laws for Christmas Day but having originally planned to travel on Christmas Eve we are now probably going on the day itself and coming back on Boxing Day. As I say we are still working out traditions other than that Father Christmas brings stocking presents only and that is to the lounge downstairs.
I would work in new pjs and a lazy Christmas Eve but DH as a pharmacist works till 6pm…this year (& upto 2017) Christmas is around weekend so we at least get 4 days together before he has to go back for three days. Sqk and I will spend time with family and just together as we did last year. As he grows he will hopefully understand why Daddy is not around as much as most Daddy’s are.
I hope over the next couple of years to develop traditions that are ours as a family. This year we are very much a family whereas last year we were still developing. I adore the little boy who is fast asleep in a room not far from where I type this sat on my bed…which is where I am heading now.
This is last post of my daily posting in November as well as being my post for waso this week. I am going to try to blog more than I was but will not be every day…however I shall put up posts with my photos for #FO5photo challenge.
