I wrote on Twitter yesterday about how much both T & I feel we have reconnected with Sqk during this week and a bit away. Sqk and I travelled to train station at Escape in Castleford on Maundy Thursday to meet T after work. Having eaten we then drov north to a caravan site north of Richmond where our caravan is pitched on a seasonal pitch. We stayed here till Easter Monday and then went a bit further north to a site on the cliff to close to St Mary’s Lighthouse in North Tyneside.
One advantage to living away from home while work done on house….Sqk plays outside lots… taken Sep 30, 2015 @ 17:37
I cannot believe we are in November and yet today in Cardiff we had a coffee outside and then lunch outside in the Bay. We’ve been spending a long weekend in Newport in our caravan – mainly to spend time with a great friend who started working at the IPO in September so is now 200+ miles away instead of 40. Sqk loves him – one of his honorary uncles and it has been great watching them interact together. Indeed when P arrived at site on Thursday a little boy went flying towards him shouting Uncle P… Uncle P….
We arrived Thursday – although we did spend Wednesday night at Tibshelf services on M1. Worked well but would have been better if a young man’s bed hadn’t collapsed so he woke up and didn’t get back to sleep till gone 11pm. Thursday night was better although still later than usual. Last night he was again reluctant to sleep but eventually did so – think it might be something to do with the cold he seems to have picked up.
Today we spent most of the day in Cardiff – wandering around the shopping area which allowed me to buy a new dress for Sqk’s Christening in a few weeks. Also had a coffee and chatted lots. Then we walked down to Cardiff Bay, admired the Millennium Centre & the Assembly building before finding a Wetherspoons for lunch. We got train back to centre and then tried to find a belt for Sqk as we forgot to bring any with us and two of the pairs of trousers he has with him are too small. Came back to Newport by train, then taxi to P’s flat where we said goodbye as we have to leave first thing tomorrow and drove back to the campsite via Asda for fuel and another attempt at a belt as well as a pair of pyjamas as little boy has leaked through his pull-ups every night thus far. Ended up with new pair of trousers instead of belt.
Tonight Sqk was very tired and went off to sleep pretty quickly so DH and I were able to watch Strictly on the new Avtex TV, before we head bedwards as we are both tired. Probably won’t post this now as Internet slow but will try to at some point soon.
Holidays for us have till this year consisted usually of 1 week abroad, most years 1 week with T’s parents on their yacht, and a couple of weeks camping usually in UK. In terms of amounts, T gets 25 days plus another 5 days that he buys – I get 35 days plus some extra days between Christmas & New Year and an extra day after Easter. To complicate matters further his runs for a calendar year & mine runs April to March.
